Practical, innovative flood alleviation schemes that protect people, property, and development from fluvial and surface water flooding.
Get a quoteWhat we do
JNM Engineering designs flood alleviation schemes to reduce flood risk to existing and proposed development. We carry out hydraulic modelling, assess flood pathways, and develop cost-effective engineering solutions — from localised surface water interventions to larger fluvial flood defence schemes.
Who it's for
Our clients include local authorities, developers, landowners, and infrastructure operators. We work on schemes ranging from property-level protection measures to strategic flood alleviation projects that unlock development land in flood-affected areas.
Why JNM Engineering
Based in Ironbridge — a town with a long history of flooding from the River Severn — JNM Engineering has first-hand experience of the challenges flood risk presents. We combine hydraulic modelling expertise with practical engineering design to deliver schemes that work in the real world.

Case study
Case study: Surface water flood alleviation, Telford
JNM Engineering was appointed to investigate and resolve a recurring surface water flooding problem affecting a residential street. We carried out a detailed drainage survey, hydraulic modelling of the catchment, and designed a series of upstream attenuation features and flow control structures to reduce flood risk to the affected properties.
Outcome
Flood risk to 14 properties reduced to a 1 in 100-year standard of protection. Scheme approved by the Lead Local Flood Authority. Construction completed on programme and within budget.
